About Me

Go-to local reverse mortgage planner and dual channel loan officer supporting homeowners all over the great state of Arizona!  I educate eligible homeowners, financial & real estate professionals, and their families on the myriad of incredible benefits/applications of the reverse mortgage by teaching classes, conducting seminars, free scheduled private in-home, office or web-based consultations. I strive to dispel false myths and unfair stigmas prohibiting retirees from living their best lives possible simply from misunderstandings while being candid about pros/cons given their situation and objectives. I ensure candid fiduciary-based consultations and unparalleled due diligence/ethics while striving for an excellent client experience for every homeowner or professional I work with.

Professional: I have a formal advanced financial planning background with multiple Fortune 500 companies building retirement plans for thousands of families to include Investments, Long-Term Care, Medicare, Estate, Legacy, and advanced Retirement Income planning.  Throughout my career though, I noticed housing and home equity integration planning conversations often weren't going deep enough, leaving clients very underserved on a topic critical to THEM. These topics become especially critical to plan for in retirement with competing goals between now and later, using assets that are mostly irreplaceable, and less room for error.

This extensive background led me down a years-long path studying the reverse mortgage from a financial planning and economic standpoint. Because it's still a relatively new concept, less than 35 years old, there have been many enhancements and protections made to the original design making it suitable for the masses.  Bad press early-on made many people think they were a gimmick or even that homeowners had to give-up their house to use it, so they've never talked to a qualified professional about it. It's simply a tool designed to leverage and convert a portion of otherwise illiquid home equity into income-tax free cash that be used many different ways while you still live in it, without having to sell the house. There are no income or net worth limits with products available for eligible properties valued up to $8 million and borrowers as young as 55.

As a lifelong consumer financial advocate having worked with thousands of past clients where money intersects with emotions, life, and mortality, I feel I’m at the right place at the right time helping people maximize their best years while making sure their money lasts as long as possible.

Note: Although I do not give formal financial advice in this role, I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, meaning I'm held to a rigorous fiduciary standard that other reverse mortgage loan officers may not be. I'm always happy to coordinate with your existing financial, real estate, tax, or legal advisor when warranted.

Military: Served honorably for over 7 years (stop-loss) as a non-commissioned officer and paratrooper in the Army Reserve as a Psychological Operations team chief (Airborne) which included a 1-year deployment in Iraq from 4/2003-3/2004. Awards included: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Action Badge.

Education: Finance degree from The Ohio State University, MBA from Arizona State University, and Linguistics at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. 

Professional Designations: CFP®, RICP®, ChFC, and CLU

Personal: In spare time I enjoy spending time with my age 10 son, coaching youth sports, volunteering with Veterans groups, road trips (checking off National Parks), working on our classic car, writing, and open water swimming.
