Scott comes from a high-tech and entrepreneurial background and has over a decade of experience in the banking industry. He is an author, and the Founder, President and CEO of Open Mortgage. Prior to launching Open Mortgage, Scott started multiple companies, including C.A.R.E. Solutions, Brava Services, and Credit Minders. Scott has served on the Board of Directors for Open Lending and has invested and been a board member for Integratus and Heliovolt. Scott maintains a membership in Vistage, an executive forum that focuses on cutting-edge development and discussions for higher velocity company performance.
Scott received his undergraduate degree from Arizona State in software engineering. He is married with two children and resides in Austin, Texas.
Joe Stephenson is the President of Open Mortgage. As a seasoned mortgage banking executive with more than 28 years in the financial services industry, he leads the day-to-day management of the enterprise. Prior to joining Open Mortgage, Joe was the Senior Vice President of Operations for American Advisors Group, where he led more than 550 employees supporting multiple sales channels, including wholesale, a centralized call platform, a national distributed platform, and a traditional mortgage platform.
In three years with AAG, Joe was responsible for the infrastructure build-out that included growing the operating platform 85% and implementing a national remote support strategy. During his career, Joe has held executive-level positions across multiple originations, operations, and process design platforms for financial industry leaders including Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo.
Joe earned a B.S. in accounting from Salisbury University Perdue School of Business. He currently resides near Phoenix, Arizona with his significant other, Summer, and their 5 children. In his spare time, Joe coaches his girls’ softball teams, cheers hard for the University of Maryland, and enjoys spending time in the Arizona mountains riding quads, camping, and snowboarding with his kids.
Tana has had careers in many industries, including journalism, and pharmaceutical, high tech, and the financial industries. Although she started working full-time for Open Mortgage in 2016, she has been involved in the company since its inception.
While taking time off to raise her two children, Tana completed her B.A. in Organizational Communications at St. Edward’s University in Austin. She finds the degree to be highly applicable at Open Mortgage and believes that communication is key to a smoothly running organization.
Tana is a native of Montana, and has lived in Austin for 20 years with her husband, two sons, and Spike, their Maine Coon cat. She loves Austin, although finds it a little too hot in the summer.
Formerly a civil litigator, Scott joined Countrywide Home Loans strategic alliance division in 2006. After Bank of America acquired Countrywide in 2008, Scott led the business-to-business platforms as the Executive Sales Leader. He managed joint ventures and marketing agreements with real estate professionals and builders, as well as affinity relationships with key real estate influencers, most notably, Tom Ferry – Your Coach, and finished off his tenure as the Merrill Lynch Sales Executive, driving residential loan officer production through the advisory channel. In 2018, He joined American Advisors Group and served as both the East Divisional Sales Executive, driving traditional, and reverse mortgage production from Utah to the Eastern seaboard and later as the Vice President for Enterprise Partnerships.
Brenda has an extensive background in analysis and fiscal planning, which she uses to maintain a robust companywide infrastructure and implement comprehensive financial management standards. Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices, she leads her department to success by ensuring they have the resources and training needed to perform their duties, as well as work cross-functionally across departments to achieve the financial goals of the organization.
Previous to her work at Open Mortgage, Hedeen served as On Q Financial, Inc.’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to working for On Q Financial, Hedeen was promoted to CFO of Mann Mortgage, LLC from her previous positions as Assistant CFO and Controller. Additionally, she has held roles in private and public accounting where her career growth was powered by a keen eye for optimization. Hedeen is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and earned her master’s in accounting from Stetson University and a bachelor’s in accounting at Baker College, online.
Tony brings 30+ years of financial, legal, and compliance leadership experience over a career with both large and smaller businesses including consumer products, SaaS, subscription retail, industrial products, and multinational oil & gas. Much of Tony’s experience was in a variety of financial management and legal roles with Shell. He also served as Head of Finance and Corporate Counsel for a major home décor company and currently serves on the board of Sollensys, a publicly-traded blockchain company, and advises startup ventures.
Tony holds a JD (Magna Cum Laude) from South Texas College of Law, an MBA (Finance) from Eastern Kentucky University, and a BBA (Industrial Administration) from the University of Kentucky. He also completed the Shell Executive Leadership Program at Wharton Business School.
Tony is a soccer fanatic (truly), and was Chairman of the Board for the Houston MLS team’s Dynamo Charities for nearly 9 years. He lives in Austin with his wife and has two grown children, Michael who is entering the workforce and Rachel who is in UT medical school in Houston.
Greg has over 20 years of executive and senior management positions in operations, logistics, customer service, and sales. Throughout his career, Greg has been involved in building, managing, and improving operational and sales processes. Prior to joining Open Mortgage, he was co-owner, President, and CEO of Mortex Lending, Ltd., CIO & EVP of Operations at MBI Mortgage Inc. and COO at Northland Funding Group Ltd.
In addition to the mortgage industry, Greg has held senior management positions with both start-ups and large organizations in the telecom and technology industries including: Point One Telecommunications, IPC Technologies and Dell. While at Dell, he established infrastructure and processes for their software and peripherals division, DellWare. Greg is proud to have served in the United States Air Force as Managing Crew Chief for the 555th Aircraft Maintenance Unit of the Tactical Air Command.
Andrea Easter is the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) at Open Mortgage. She leads all risk-related functions within the company, including overseeing the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding state and federal regulations and agency requirements. Her duties will include keeping abreast of existing, new, and pending laws and regulations impacting the mortgage industry while maintaining relationships with industry leaders and federal and state regulators. She reports to President Joe Stephenson and holds a fiduciary duty to the Board of Directors.
Easter is a diverse and experienced leader in the mortgage compliance space. Prior to joining Open Mortgage in 2022, Easter worked for Celebrity Home Loans, LLC, where she was Deputy Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to working at Celebrity Home Loans, she was a Senior Financial Examiner of Mortgage Origination at N.C. Office of the Commissioner of Banks. Easter has also held various mortgage compliance roles at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Daylight Discount Mortgage Corporation, and at Headway Workforce Solutions for Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance. Easter earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and has achieved various training completions from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Conference of State Bank Supervisors, and North Carolina Bankers Association.
Lucas is the Senior Vice President of Operations and manages operations for underwriting, processing, and closing in the retail, wholesale, and correspondent channels. He most recently served as Vice President and Community Operations Director at Movement Mortgage. He has held management and senior management positions at Sutherland Global Services, Accenture, and Goldman Sachs’ Senderra. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Catawba College.
Lucas lives in North Carolina with his wife and two children. He’s an avid sports fan, and loves craft beer.
Adam O’Daniel is the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Open Mortgage. He brings to the role more than 15 years of experience in marketing, branding, communications, and financial services. Prior to Open, Adam served as Marketing and Communications Director at Movement Mortgage for six years, where he led social media and marketing strategy, multimedia production, branding, events, public relations, and corporate communications. Adam’s career began in journalism, including a stint as Finance Editor at American City Business Journals, where he covered the subprime mortgage and foreclosure crisis before moving into marketing and public relations for a technology and real estate startup. He is a Winthrop University alumnus. Adam resides near Charlotte, N.C. with his wife, Ashley, and their three sons. They enjoy traveling and exploring state and national parks as a family.
Brian leads Open’s forward and reverse branch network as well as the Corporate Sales Support teams that serve those branches. His career in the mortgage industry began in 2005 as a Loan Officer in a branch he later took over as Branch Manager. Brian brought his branch onboard with Open in 2010 and then joined the Corporate Sales team in 2015, initially working as an advisor to Branch Managers to help them grow and develop their businesses.
Before entering the mortgage arena, Brian owned and was a partner in several companies, primarily in the automotive industry. He grew up in Atlanta and graduated with a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. Brian lives with his wife, daughter, and a host of animals – both live and stuffed – in “Paradise” (also known as the Golden Isles on Georgia’s coast).
Nick has over fifteen years of mortgage experience. He started as a loan officer and worked his way up Secondary Marketing through product development, lock desk and hedging. Nick graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He lives near Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and two children.
Daniel Stock is a VP of Technology who works with internal staff and partners to use technology to improve efficiencies and readiness. Daniel believes that automation & staff interaction are the keys to making technology work for you, rather than just with you.
Daniel has worked in the mortgage industry for 5 years, and in technology role for more than 20 years. He started in an inbound call center and worked his way up to desktop support and later into software engineering. Daniel became a certified Scrum Master in 2018, as well as earning a Microsoft Certified professional and CompTIA A+ certified engineer.
Daniel holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Computer Information Systems from the University of North Texas. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and two children.
