About Open Mortgage
Over the last 15 years, we’ve built Open Mortgage to offer a wide variety of mortgage options. But one thing hasn’t changed at all. We’re in the business of empowering people.
No matter where you are on your journey of homeownership, we’ve got a loan that meets your needs. From first-time homebuyers to reverse mortgages—and everything in between—we’re here to guide you.
The care you take in choosing and caring for your home is the same level of care we take with each mortgage processed. Let us take you closer to home.
Nothing sets a company apart more than its people. We are proud to have assembled a team of experienced, knowledgeable and friendly senior staff.

Laura Kardow is the VP of Compliance who works with all departments and divisions to create a “Culture of Compliance” throughout the company. Because this is a highly regulated industry, there are many facets and pitfalls that are part of the Compliance Department’s scope.
Laura has over nineteen years of experience in the mortgage business which includes processing, originating, operations management and Compliance. Her background as a teacher of almost 20 years, brings attention to detail and the need for training. Because she has owned and operated her own real estate office, she can empathize with the issues Realtors and loan officers face during a transaction. Laura’s approach to compliance issues has always been that it is her job to assess risk and to protect loan originators and Open Mortgage so that they can continue doing business. She researches the compliance issues that arise, and when necessary, consults with our compliance attorney for insight before making decisions.
Laura is a graduate of Texas A&M University/Kingsville and lives in Spicewood, Texas, which is just west of Austin. She and her husband, John, are proud to be grandparents of five “perfect” grandchildren.
