Scott and Tana Gordon

The Dream Come True Foundation announced today Austin-based mortgage lender Open Mortgage and founders Scott and Tana Gordon as the inaugural recipients of the newly established “Impact Award”, with an award recognition to be held on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Open Mortgage and the Gordons have partnered with The Dream Come True Foundation during the past 12 months in an effort to solve intergenerational poverty, having made generous donations to help expand the Foundation’s impact in the Austin community and beyond. With their extraordinary contributions, The Dream Come True Foundation has helped move more people out of minimum wage jobs and into family-sustaining incomes, even in these challenging times.

Specifically, the generosity of contributions made by Open Mortgage and the Gordons have made an impact by:

  • Creating an easier pathway for 75 people among 25 families to move out of poverty through education, mentoring and career development, an increase of 15 individuals from 2021 to 2022.
  • Laying the foundation to empowering and serving 105 people among 35 families in 2023, an increase of 45 individuals from 2022.
  • Expanding services to better support the educational, health, and nutritional needs of children of Dream Achievers, including partnerships for mental health and early child development.

“We partner with The Dream Come True Foundation because we believe in valuing and supporting people in achieving their potential. It is so rewarding to see members of our community triumph and reach their goals to ensure that they and their family have a sustainable future,” said Scott Gordon, founder and CEO of Open Mortgage.

Since 2010, The Dream Come True Foundation has been creating pathways for individuals and families to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Their wraparound services with the cornerstones of education, mentoring, financial assistance, and community partnerships help these individuals, their children, their children’s children, and so on, to reach sustainable independence.

“The generous support of Open Mortgage and the Gordons have enabled The Dream Come True Foundation to make a more substantial impact in our community and create positive outcomes for Dream Achievers and their families forever,” said The Dream Come True Foundation Board Chair Heather Bailey. “The momentum to continue this work is possible due to the generous contributions of Tana and Scott Gordon and Open Mortgage and therefore a new category was needed to recognize their momentous impact. We look forward to honoring them with the 2022 Impact Award at our Tailgate To Tackle Poverty event on October 2.”
